Hygiene, contact lens wearing time, eye care – what wearers of contact lenses should bear in mind

Contact lenses are, of course, comfortable for people with impaired vision. But unfortunately, they also mean stress for the eyes, especially if the wearing time is exceeded or hygiene is not observed enough.

Tips Eye lubrication when wearing contact lenses

Hygiene is top priority when inserting and removing contact lenses. Wash your hands thoroughly and clean your contact lenses to prevent germs from getting into your eyes. Storage in a suitable disinfectant solution is also important. Always ensure that you insert your contact lenses into your eye the correct way around. Otherwise, your small visual aids will feel like foreign bodies and rub. Do not exceed the recommended wearing time, and give your eyes a break from the contact lenses every now and then to let them recover. This is especially true if your eyes feel tired and irritated or are red. If you sit in front of a computer every day, plan regular glasses-wearing days to give your eyes a rest. Don't forget to moisturise your eyes and contact lenses with eye drops regularly to prevent them from drying out.
